The Industrial Product Designer will be responsible for researching and developing ideas and concepts to design groundbreaking new sexual wellness products with sex appeal, artistic flair, and an element of mystery and curiosity using a broad understanding of technology, mechanics, metals, advanced materials, energy, fluids, controls and manufacturing methods.


The Industrial Product Designer will work with electronics designers, and will be involved in designing, modeling, testing and producing product prototypes, and taking them through to production. Specifically the Product Designer will:

  • Design groundbreaking new sexual wellness products with sex appeal, artistic flair, and an element of mystery and curiosity
  • Understand and research the industry, the trends, and where the product focus is headed, particularly within the mainstream market, together with Marketing to help define future products
  • Translate final design concepts into engineering drawings and follow through from prototyping to production
  • Research and identify the suitability and availability of materials
  • Understand the “Body-Safe” constraints on designs, and use the materials science knowledge to help create high quality and industry-leading safe consumer products
  • Produce detailed final drawings and design specifications using computer software (SolidWorks), including parts lists and costing;
  • Work together with Engineering, Marketing, and Management to create not only new products, but a comprehensive growing of the brand identity already established in all forms of media
  • Work with electronics engineers, Operations, Sales, Marketing and Finance to discuss and negotiate appropriate production processes, costs, and commercial or environmental issues
  • Occasionally travel to offshore production facilities to evaluate the feasibility of production processes and participate actively in new product introductions, as required.
  • May design product packaging and other related items as well as collateral and graphics for Marketing


  • Degree in Industrial Design or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Senior level 15+ years proven experience developing innovative, creative, mechanical and electronic consumer product designs involving various technologies
  • Strong product design and mechanical engineering experience including injection molding, plastics and rubber, portable products with embedded electronics, user interface controls;
  • Knowledge of RoHS, REACH and other environmental/body-safe certifications an asset
  • Adept with CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks design software to translate product designs into production documentation and oversee the mechanical aspects of the prototype-to-production transition
  • Proven electromechanical expertise is required; knowledge of small motors and ability to perform vibration analysis is an asset
  • Solid materials science expertise and experience
  • Sound understanding of manufacturing processes and proven experience introducing new products to manufacturing is requires; experience working with manufacturing facilities in China or offshore is an asset;
  • Superior communication skills and consultation skills with a proven ability to turn design requirements into creative innovative products
  • Self-starter with solid design and materials leadership skills
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work well as part of a design team
